Located at the tip of Cape Cod, St. Mary’s of the Harbor is located steps away from the ocean, surrounded by sand dunes and the resort village of Provincetown. St. Mary’s wanted a new frontal for the green season, but no one on the committee felt that green was a good color for the sanctuary. Instead, I chose to bring the living elements of the local beach roses – rosa rugosa to the design. Each petal and leaf were cut and placed by hand and delicately thread painted to bring them to life. Set against the backdrop of the sea and the dunes, these dramatic pieces truly capture the natural beauty of the area as well as the artistic spirit of the congregation.
