Located on a island of extraordinary natural beauty, St. Paul's Episcopal Church on Nantucket boasts exquisite Tiffany windows depicting the local flora. From my very first visit to this church, I was inspired to create paraments and vestments for this community. This installation reflects the deep connection to their island home and their commitment to caring for all of God's creation. I fashioned a "basket" out of the green bias to hold a bounty of blooms: iris, daisies, day lilies, beach roses, daffodils, cattails, and passion flowers. With so much going on in the frontal, I chose to keep the vestments simple: twining vines and leaves with a Trinity symbol drawn from another stained glass panel.
