Divine Frequency – How To Tune In and Get in the Flow
Most of the time, writing my blog comes easily to me. I have a ton of ideas floating around my head. (What’s difficult is deciding which one comes next!) But today, I was struggling to get into my “flow”. I couldn’t seem to tune in to the Divine Frequency.
My wife and I are preparing to go on retreat at this amazing place in Wyoming for two weeks. It’s called Ring Lake Ranch, and it was founded by an Episcopal Priest about 50 years ago as a ranch and retreat center. My wife is also an Episcopal priest, and she loves to go there for her continuing education. (This year we get to spend two weeks with Diana Butler Bass and Brian McLaren – I can hardly wait!)
Situated in the mountains outside of Dubois, there is no cell signal. WiFi is available by sitting on the front porch of the office. I have the intention to unplug as best I can there, so that means writing and scheduling my posts ahead of time. Two weeks worth of posts, which feels overwhelming.
I was stalling. Where was I? You guessed it – on Facebook.
A friend of mine posted a link to a video with the comment that she almost never watches videos. However, something told her that this was not one to scroll past. My curiosity was piqued, and I clicked on it. Here it is:
“Shoulder Taps” – Facebook Video
What does it mean to be tuned in to the Divine Frequency?
Getting on the wavelength that allows you to participate in synchronicities and Universal connections is not difficult. It works in much the same way that the Law of Attraction works, and this is one of my areas of expertise.
Wouldn’t it feel amazing to connect with people in an intuitively guided and loving way? What if experiences like the man in the video describes could happen to you on a regular basis? How would that change the way you feel about your daily life?
I make it a priority to stay on the Divine Frequency, as it is a critical part of my work as an energy worker and an intuitive healer of people and their homes. Regularly, I receive “shoulder taps” as I work with my clients. I also feel these nudges as I move about my world. It is an indescribable blessing to be able to lift someone else up and empower their own healing with these bits of Divine guidance.
Tuning in to the Divine Frequency means:
- Believing that we are already in continuous contact with our Source
- Accepting that we are infinitely worthy of the Divine presence, grace, and love
- Making daily choices to embrace positive emotions (love, joy, peace, etc.)
- Actively turning away from negative emotions that obscure Divine presence (worry, anger, etc.)
- Strengthening our connection with our Creator through meditation, prayer, etc.
- Living life as a “YES” to being a part of Creation and a source of healing
This seems like something that only “special” people can do. You are probably wondering how you can make this happen in your life. The truth is – it’s EASY, but it requires an ongoing commitment. That’s the challenging part, but I’m going to break it down for you so that you can start tuning in to the Divine Frequency RIGHT NOW.
#1 – Accept that you are a Child of the Divine and that your Creator is just waiting for your invitation.
The Source that gives all things life is with us all, in full measure. We are truly and literally Children of the Divine. This was a concept that was almost impossible for me to accept at first. My shift began many years ago while I was working at a church that turned out to be one of the worst experiences of my life. During a Vacation Bible School summer program, one of the leaders got the idea to make pins for each of the kids that said, “[Kid’s Name] is a Child of God.” I got my very own pin that said, “Christina is a Child of God.”
That pin lived on my desk, next to my computer. As the dreadfulness of the job unfolded, I looked at it often and wondered if it could be true. I thought it was a little silly, but I couldn’t throw it away. I still have it. It began a process that has allowed me to accept that my Creator embraces each one of us fully, exactly as we are. This one shift in thinking has brought more healing to my life than all of the other work I have done combined.
#2 – Allow the realization that your Creator is not distant but is within your own self and within every person you encounter.
Divine presence in your very own hands. Wow. As I began my work as a healer, I experienced transformations that were far beyond any knowledge or ability I had. Something much bigger than myself was clearly at work through my presence, words, and touch.
The process of recognizing the Divine in one’s self allows us to more easily see that Presence in others. There is a mystical alchemy that occurs when I allow that Source Presence to flow through me to interact with the same Source in others. I am constantly amazed, grateful and humbled by the experience.
#3 – Choose situations, actions, and most importantly, thoughts that keep you joyful.
Is it really possible to choose one’s thoughts? YES, but it takes some practice. The good news is that there is awesome positive reinforcement when you succeed. You feel good! But it’s difficult to do this when things in life are not going well. So, start small. Find one thing around you that brings you to a place of appreciation or contentment. Stay with the feeling for as long as you can. Create reminders throughout your home, your car, your smartphone – to look for things that give you joy. Positive emotions are the first indicator of the Divine Frequency.
#4 – Gently turn yourself around when you recognize that you are in a negative place.
The key word here is “gently”. Don’t beat yourself up about it – that compounds the negative emotion. Just notice and correct. “Oh, that driver just cut me off and I was feeling great, but now I’m pissed. Well. Time to let it go and get back to feeling great.”
This also takes some practice. One of the things that I used to help me turn around when I was slipping into a depressive episode was a special playlist. These songs were the ones that always delivered on the positive feelings, and I would play it until I felt a shift start to happen. After a while, I didn’t need the playlist anymore. (And just so you know, clinical depression and medication were a part of my life for a LONG time.)
#5 – Stay in the Present.
Another piece of this challenging (but totally doable) puzzle is about recognizing how negative emotions work. Most of them are not based in the present moment. Anger and resentment are directed toward things in the past that have already occurred. If you are feeling angry or resentful, the trigger action has already taken place. Worry and anxiety are future-based emotions. You feel crappy because your energy is out in front of you in a future that hasn’t happened yet. (And may not ever happen.) Depression is in the present, but it is often triggered by past or future based emotions.
Stay in the present. It is the key to the Divine Frequency. It’s where the Divine Presence is. It’s also the place where we experience joy and happiness most fully. Most of the time, when the emotion is negative, it is because you are not fully in the present time.
#6 – Invest some time and energy into your relationship with your Creator.
Like any other relationship in your life, a relationship with the Divine requires commitment on your part. You need to spend time together. Come to trust in the Presence being there unconditionally and without fail.
How you do this is really up to you. I am a crappy prayer. I hate praying, and so I don’t do it anymore. However, I do a lot of meditating. I found that I got tired of hearing my own voice chattering endlessly to the Divine Presence. I prefer to be still and listen. Some folks do this with guided tapes. Others walk in nature. Still others are great at prayer. Find what works for you.
I also communicate with my creator using a technique I learned from Elizabeth Gilbert. I call it “Sacred Writing” and you can read more about it here.
#7 – Live your life as a “YES” to co-creation with the Divine.
I said that I am a crappy prayer – that’s the truth. I have cut my prayers down to two concepts: “THANK YOU” and “YES”.
Gratitude is a huge game-changer in shifting your mindset to a more positive one. If life seems hard, find small things to be grateful for. The softness of your sheets. The smell of coffee. Move to larger things. The fact that you have a bed, a home, adequate food. Gratitude is powerful and can produce huge shifts in consciousness in a short amount of time.
Saying “YES” is all about making yourself available to have your shoulder tapped. It’s about allowing the good feelings you are cultivating within yourself to be directed outward into the world with a Divine purpose. It’s about signing up to be an active part of co-creation with Source.
Sometimes, the Divine Frequency will lead you into situations that are uncomfortable at first. As an introvert, I always resist the nudge to speak to a stranger. But that’s exactly what the man in this video did, and his joy has graced not only the woman he spoke to but all of us.
